Introducing our newest member of staff - Sandy Baxter
Date Posted - 7th November 2013
Throughout her life, Sandy’s career has been legal and medical sector focused. She lived in Sweden between1976 - 1978 where her son Lee was born then moved to Australia 1978/1979 where her daughter Kelly was born before moving back to Sweden until 1983. Sandy was married to professional football player Stuart Baxter formerly Preston North End, who is now Head Coach of Kaiser Chiefs in South Africa.
For 23 ½ years Sandy worked for Littlewoods Mail Order and Fraud Department, dealing with credit card fraud and Identity theft, until made redundant in 2006.
Later in 2006 she was fortunate enough to obtain a position as a Support Worker in healthcare at HMP Preston where she first learned about substance misuse. In 2010, Sandy moved to HMP Ashwell in the East Midlands as healthcare and substance misuse administrator where she remained until 2011 when HMP Ashwell closed and was transferred to HMP Stocken in the same area. There was no admin in place at HMP Stockenso Sandy was asked to take on and develop the role. In doing so, she continued to build on and develop her knowledge of substance misuse.
By pure chance in November last year, Sandycame across an advert for an Admin/Support worker with Delphi Medical at HMP Kirkham and was thrilled to be appointed in the role in January 2013. Here she was able to set up once more admin for Substance Misuse Services and provide Delphi with data they required in order to develop the service.
Although tuped over to CRI in July 2013, Delphi brought her home within the role of DATA Administrator where she now gather stats for the Staffordshire and Greater Manchester Prisons and with the Sefton Treatment and Recovery Service.
Outside of work Sandy’s interests are first and foremost football and supporting Everton. She also loves to visit Sweden to see her family, particularly at Christmas when the family nickname her ‘Sandy Claus’. She also loves to read medieval history and her favourite authors are Elizabeth Chadwick and Philippa Gregory.
Sandy’s son is now a Goalkeeper coach for one of the top Football clubs in Sweden called AIK Stockholm and was a very proud mother to watch him at Wembley 1998/9 in Champions league against Arsenal, though he was only substitute goalkeeper at that time.
