JFH Lettings has expanded its offer to help improve both the home lives and health of its tenants.
A health professional is now working full-time in the offices of the social enterprise letting agency.
The worker from Delphi Medical, a leading treatment provider, will offer Jobs, Friends & Houses’ (JFH) team members and tenants direct access to free, confidential health and wellbeing advice and preventative healthcare.
Liz Greenhalgh has already been working with JFH for one day a week, since October, offering health and wellbeing check-ups and advice to tenants and team members, including giving out more than 100 flu vaccinations before Christmas and helping individuals to quit smoking.
Karon Brown, Head of Clinical and Nursing Services for Delphi Medical, said: "Liz will bring energy, drive, a wealth of knowledge and empathy to this role, as she works with adults and families.
"Having the experience of a job, friends and a house is all the more improved and sustainable if an individual has good emotional and physical health.”
The worker will advise clients around registering with a GP or dentist, smoking cessation and weight management, and confidence in self-help. As a Delphi Medical employee, an organisation which is a leading drug and alcohol treatment provider, the medic will also give specialist guidance on maintaining abstinence and Liz will also work with JFH Lettings’ specialist tenancy support team to enable them to also support tenants around issues such as substance abuse, mental illness and early intervention healthcare.
One aim of the partnership is to reduce strains on other health services, including A&E presentations and ambulance call-outs, as the support worker will educate and guide tenants on appropriate use of services.
