From the 1st September 2014, Delphi Medical will be partnering with local health service provider FCMS to deliver the clinical element of the Horizon treatment system in Blackpool, ensuring safe, accessible and effective prescribed treatment for patients with drug and alcohol misuse.
Drug and alcohol misuse in the northwest of England is the worst in the UK and Blackpool has some of the worst levels of drug and alcohol related harm in the region.
With this back drop and as part of Blackpool Council’s commitment to improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of Blackpool’s population, the Horizon integrated drug and alcohol treatment system has been commissioned. It has the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of the Blackpool population by promoting and supporting recovery from drug and alcohol harms, as well as increasing the number of people successfully completing their treatment and supporting their reintegration into the community.

Partnering Delphi Medical to provide the frontline and admin function is locally based FCMS (NW) Limited who for 20 years has provided excellent clinical care and expert telephone triage services to NHS patients across the Fylde Coast and now nationally. As a social enterprise organisation FCMS has remained passionate in its drive to ensure that its service users remain the central focus of all they do.
Sharing many of Delphi Medical’s operational standards and values, FCMS is proud to have a fabulous cohort of staff, efficient and effective operating systems coupled with robust and well established governance processes.
Other service elements will be delivered by The Hub, an under 25s alcohol and drug service along with recovery co-ordination and psychosocial interventions specialist ADS and Renaissance, who will be responsible for harm minimisation, needle exchange, outreach and non-clinical sexual health services, together with Patients Know Best, the world’s first patient-controlled medical records system.
